The meaning of “Zanxing” is to praise the astral deities that including Five Dippers (Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and Saturn), Twenty-Eight Mansions, and Twelve zodiac signs in order to pray for the longevity and good fortune. Because the orbital motion of stars would affect the occurrence of earthly disasters and fortune in the Daoist beliefs. During the ritual, scripture chanters would invite a series of astral deities to descend to the altar. Then they would circumambulate the altar to praise the Twenty-Eight Mansions and request for the elimination of disasters and sins.
